kakeai(掛合)
You don't learn a language just by studying it.
You learn it by using it.
You memorize. You always drill. You do the flashcards. You finish the lesson and feel productive.
That matters - but it's not the whole story. Because when someone asks you a simple question, the words simply don't come out.
That gap, between knowing a language and using it, is where everything happens. And it's the hardest gap to cross alone - because using a language means reaching back into your memory, putting the pieces together, and doing it in the moment - not at the end of the day, in the shower.
So we're building a place to practice exactly that:
- A safe space. Experiment, get it wrong, try again - no judgement, none of the embarassment that lingers afterward.
- Whenever you want. No partner to schedule, no trip to plan, no "right moment." You show up, and the stage is ready.
It's early. But the idea is simple:
You don't become fluent by knowing words. You become fluent by reaching for them - again and again.
Kakeai (掛合) - in Noh theatre, the exchange of lines between two performers, facing each other. Step on stage, and the exchange begins.
